The Outdoor Alternative is the ideal location for our undergraduate geology field trips to the world-class Rhoscolyn coastal outcrops. The accommodation is comfortable, the staff are friendly and helpful, the food is good and copiously supplied, and there is always plenty of hot water at the end of the day. The field centre is within walking distance of all the key coastal areas ensuring a full-day of exercise and fresh air. I always tell our students that the Anglesey trip is the Department's healthy trip, instead of riding coaches, we walk everywhere and exercise our brains and our bodies!

The centre provides excellent communal areas for evening work and socialising. In addition, there is a beautiful beach nearby, and large open fields at the centre are great for impromptu football games. The management has a relaxed attitude about students and treats them as adults which the students appreciate; it inspires them to be respectful in return. All in all, we find the Outdoor Alternative to be the preferred accommodation for our student field trip and we hope to return every year.
